I am pleased and excited to announce that my paintings and drawings are included in the upcoming exhibition Claiming Space: A New Generation of Visionary Women at the Museum of Wisconsin Art, in West Bend, Wisconsin. The show opens July 24, 2021 and runs through October 3, 2021. This exhibition features the work of 30 contemporary women artists with Wisconsin ties.
I have been exhibiting regionally and nationally for over 30 years and being included in this exhibition is wonderful and amazing to me. I feel so honored to have my artwork displayed in the same galleries as the work of my friends: LaNia Sproles, Anne Kingsbury, Ariana Vaeth, Lois Bielefeld, Gina Litherland, and Demitra Copoulos.
In addition, there are Wisconsin women artists whose work I admire, but whom I have not yet had the chance to meet including: Michelle Grabner, Della Wells, Rosemary Ollison, Niki Johnson, to name a few. This is a great opportunity for me to come out of my studio shell and open up to new people and ideas.
I appreciate that this exhibition was put together to highlight the work of contemporary women artists and to point to the under representation of them in the art world, including museum collections, despite the strong body of work presented here.
